Ultraheavy Capitals: (10,000 RP 8 Turns) Unlocks the SHCL(Super Heavy Capital ship) slot. These ships are massive and require a lot of resources to produce (2500 PP, two turns to build). These are comparable to CL5s as CL1s are to Bombers. Only one SHCL per tech. An empire can research this tech multiple times and unlock an additional ship slot.
Ultra-heavy Capital Ship tech x1 = 1 SHCL Ultra-heavy Capital Ship tech x2 = 2 SHCL total

If I have the salvaging discipline, can any ship salvage any amount of wrecks? Imagine that in a huge battle with dozens of capships on every side I somehow miraculously win with one interceptor left - can I still take all the salvage? Or is it not tied to combat ships at all, so that for example some transport ships come and salvage the stuff?

Assuming you win the battle and you have surviving miltiary forces in the system, they escort the salvage ships through, you do need to have surviving ships/stations/somthing in system to benefit though.

Do I get salvage from stuff that self-destructs?
Technically (in character), unless the Children have a particularly nasty method of self-destructing, I should be able to salvage the defense platforms in Sirenhold. I know that the rules only speak about regular battles, but I do not see how this should be a problem.

Mmm, somthing I'd have to consider, you did have ships in system, but it wasn't your battle.
I'll think about it, but for now I'll say no, give me some more time to think on it though.

Salvage is overpowered enough as it is, to be honest. Look at what Omega Ceti did for me.
And my folks do make a hell of a bang when they self destruct anyway - each station would've gone off with several megatons of force from overloading their Deathsuns and central reactors, which aren't too stable at the best of times.

I am starting to think that CYOE balance works around the fact that everything is imbalanced.

How do Defence Platforms interact with traits and techs? Obviously they get Inherent Violence and the soldier traits, but beyond that, it isn't very clear.

Hmmm, for now I'd say no, but I'll think about it in more detail!

What happens to the ships I've built in my last turn, but now can't place because I have no production stations?
Oh, can I place ships on planets?
