I would like some clarification on capturing / trading ships. I have heard some info from talking to people, but I'd like the official opinion.
Do the ships keep their original traits? Do they keep upgrades? Do my traits apply to them? Do my upgrades apply?
What about stations? Do they keep the production/research bonuses?
And last sort of related thing: If I salvage ships belonging to someone with the Mass Production trait, do I get only half of the salvage I would get normally?

They keep their original traits and techs, but get none of your own and cannot be upgraded with new techs. Got that from OC the other day. Stations I would assume don't.
As for Mass Production, the exact wording of Salvage is 10% of the total PP value, which would suggest yes, it's halved.

Captued/traded ships retianing thier origonal traits and techs.
Stations don't, just trust me it works eaiser this way.
And with mass production you'd gain the percentage of the reduced cost per ship yes.

Let's say two empires have a NAP signed, or for whatever reason don't engage each other. Now Empire A moves a fleet from SYS-1 to SYS-2 to SYS-3. But Empire B has some ships in SYS-2, and for some reason they want to stop A from crossinng the system. Can they do so (i.e. attack them) after A has posted their turn in which they moved their ships?

I'd imagine so. But I will kill everything you have in that system if you try it, Fireheart is calling the shots there. You're lucky they're not stopping to kill you anyway ^^

Um yeah, I think it's a good idea to stop a fleet of 100+ caps with 10 fighters. I just thought of that possibility for the future.
Still, allowing hat would make things unnecessarily complex - as you can not be sure whether the ships you sent somewhere even actually arrived. Imagine that Empire A sends ships to attack Empire C in SYS-3. C places/moves most of his ships to defend SYS-3, but after that, Empire B stops A in SYS-2. This means that C have potentially uncovered their other strategic positions in order to face a threat theat was actually never there.
