Hello everyone. I've put together a small calculator in Excel format to aide in playing the game. It's not complete yet but hopefully it will help you get started. Features:- An Empire Creation sheet that will assist you in picking traits for your empire. - A Turn Input sheet that will assist you in preparing your turns.
Versions: Version 1.4 - CurrentVersion 1.3Version 1.2Version 1.1 (Abdiel)Version 0.1Hopefully it'll be a handy tool that will make the game more accessible to everyone. Thanks to Abdiel who created the Turn Input sheet. Any questions, comments, or bugs can be discussed here. Attachments:

Apologies in advance. I'd hoped to have some more time this weekend to prepare a new version in time for turn 1, but it just doesn't look like it's going to happen until tomorrow at the earliest.

If you have an older version of MS Office, or if you are using a different spreadsheet program, and the above file breaks, use this one:

Report bugs ASAP!
(sorry for stealing your work jacob, but I didn't want to do my first turn by hand ;D )

Version 1.2 is here. I took Abdiel's excellent turn input sheet and further meshed it with the empire creation sheet. Now your trait choices carry over automatically to the turn sheet. Question for everyone. Would you prefer to leave it this way (with one turn sheet) or have me create multiple turn sheets for multiple turns, so your leftover income, purchases, etc would show up as already existing on the next sheet? Multiple sheets would be cool, lets you see what you've done in past turns. Like a bank statement ^^

Version 1.1: Added minor clarification text about planet upgrades. Version 1.2: Added checks for upgrades according to rules clarifications. Added checks for researching the same tech more than once and for having more techs than techslots.

[Old version was linked here, see below for the latest version.] [Old version was linked here, see below for the latest version.] Version 1.3: Merged my 1.2 with jacob's 1.2 Problem with leftover stuff automatically carrying over is that you have to edit it anyway if you lose stuff in battles or gain by trading or exploration. You can always keep several copies of the spreadsheet (or just the page with turns) and update them as you go.

Ah, true. Probably stick with just the one sheet, with that in mind.

This is getting rather confusing so I'm just going to leave things as they are with this 1.3 version. I think the version we have now is sufficient.
