Three seconds into the transmition, New Eden Corporation transmitting relays detect the intrusion.
Eighteen seconds after the message started, the source of the message is pinpointed.
After twenty five seconds, the method used to broadcast it is discovered, and several simultaneous attempts to stop it are made.
Fifty eight seconds into the message, still unable to break the transmission, New Eden piggybacks its own signal on the same frequency.
After seventy six seconds, just as the message ends, every screen across Valii goes black for a moment.
Seventy nine seconds after the message began, the familiar face of Aghes Istal, vice-president of the New Eden Corporation, appears on all the screens that have received the message. His voice is heard from receivers with no visual capabilities.
Free people of Valii! First of all, we want to apologise for the sudden malfunction of our transmitters: the glitch is not in your device. Please listen to this message until its end. The transmission you have just received was not fabricated, it is genuine. Its authors are the Deathspire Imperium, enemy of all Valiaas and of all free people. The claims they make in the message are entirely false. Six months ago, House Savaaik exploration ships have first encountered these creatures, and they welcomed us with sensors locked and weapons firing.
[Background footage: Deathspire, Savaaik CL1 under fire by Deathspire CL1. The Valii ship is retreating.]
We have tried to negotiate, but that has proven impossible. The Imperium has sent a small strike fleet all the way to Valii system borders. This fleet was intercepted by regular New Eden Corporation patrols.
[Footage: Valii system, Deathspire CL1 and two Interceptors pursued by Valii fleet.]
We tried to contact them, but instead of a response, they started heading towards Valii itself. Attempts to stop them were met by firepower.
[Footage: Deathspire fleet turns around and engages. Several Valii Interceptors turn into balls of fire.]
Until the very end they fought, and killed several good pilots. Even when their last ship was breaking apart, they did not stop firing. Do you still believe that those are not monsters? That they have any sense of compassion, or hold any value to human life? Let me ultimately convince you now.
[Footage: Neo-Terra. Smoking wrecks of defense stations, ships, and starports in the background. Deathspire ships bombarding the surface of the planet. Thousands of kilometers of forests and cities burning.]
This footage has not been altered in any way. You are looking at planet Neo-Terra, the home world of our first interstellar allies, the Neo-Terran Republic. The Republic is a peace-loving industrial nation. They did nothing to provoke Deathspire. The Imperium has invaded their space and killed over a billion civilians in this bombardment. The Republic production facilities have been crippled. They are now existing only because of help of their allies. Are the people who did this ones you want to share the Universe with? Can they even call themselves Humans anymore? Those who do not value human lives, do not deserve theirs!
[Footage: Split-screen. Upper left quarter shows the Immara Council chambers, a majestic circular building the color of ivory about a kilometer in diameter. Upper right shows House Savaaik High Command Center, a tall grey spire in the center of a large town, reaching for blueish clouds illuminated by the night light. Bottom left shows a space station with a freighter arriving. Bottom right shows a trade convoy escorted by several small ships entering warp towards the three suns.]
Today is the time to stand united. We will not be taunted by these monsters anymore. People of Valii, rise! It no longer matters if you are of Immara, of Savaaik, of Tamari, of New Eden, of the GMC, or of any of the countless Houses, factions or corporations.
[Footage: As the vice-president names the factions, each images on the screen fades into the corresponding faction's emblems.]
Today, your services are required by Valii itself, and by all the free world! If we don't stop this threat once and for all, peace across the Universe will shatter, nations and worlds will be forced into a terrible bloodshed.
[Footage: The Neo-Terra bombardment is played again for several seconds, this time with ships still fighting in the orbit of the planet.]
But fear not, people of Valii, for we now have the power to end this menace. We have the power. We have the courage. And we are not alone!
[Footage: Zviast system, Valii patrol waiting in space. Several Talos Kingdom ships drop out of warp and join the Valiaas.]
For we are not bound on destroying, but on creating. We do not start wars, but alliances. We now stand united with empires each in their own more powerful than the Deathspire. But we ourselves are not weak either.
[Footage: Three CL5 Akaramah Dreadnoughts in dry dock, bearing New Eden Corporation emblems on their hulls. The Dreadnaughts power up their engines and slowly start leaving the docking ports.]
Ever since the first intrusion by Deathspire, we have been expecting this conflict. We have been preparing. Now we have the power to fight back. These ships have once started a great war amongst the Valiaas. Let it be those ships that will unite us in this conflict! Let their terrible power be used not to destroy, but to protect.
[Footage: Planet Valii III seen from space, two of the three suns rising above the horizon.]
Now, fight for your family. Fight for your House. Fight for our world. Fight for our freedom! Join the effort of all Valiaas to ensure peace in the sector. Just as one star alone does not make a full day, we must stand together to repel the night.
[Footage: Vice-president Aghes Istal speaking again.]
Thanks for listening to this message. If your brother, or your father, or your son, or your cousin has not heard it, please replay it to them. All channels will now be shut down for about ten minutes to upgrade our security systems. The enemy will not invade your privacy like this ever again.
[Footage: The image fades into the New Eden Corporation logo, and then fades to black.]
Three minutes and four seconds after intercepting the Deathspire transmission, New Eden scientists isolate the fault in the communication systems which allowed it to happen, and start working on a fix.
Eleven minutes and thirty-three seconds after the message started; three minutes after the Vice-president finished talking, the communication protocols are patched and brought back online.
