Rules for CYOF- The coming of age.
Setting: 70 years after the events of freelancer.
The Premise: 70 Years after the Nomads infiltrated the Houses, alot has changed. New ships are being made. New Technologies are being researched. New systems have been found. New jumpgates have been built. But more imortantly, new alliances are being made. New friends and New enemies.
Step 1: Choose a Faction
Players may choose from the following factions-
House Liberty- The "shining center" of the Sirius sector, House Liberty is surrounded by the other Houses and is constantly hounded by the Outcasts, who still spread their Cardmine influence in Liberty space. During the Nomad war, Liberty was infiltrated by the Nomads and had its government controled by the nomads. After the war, its president returned to power and got its Government back on its feet, helping Rheinland pay for damages after all the damage. Because of this, it manages to be the most stable and politcally powerfull House.
House Rheinland- After the Nomad War, Rheinland was forced demiltarize their armed forces. It was forced to pay for all the damage it caused, using the money it never had to begin with. Coupled with the Revolutionary Union capturing Dresden and Omega-11, it remains a weak and hollow shell of what it once was, though still force to be reckoned with.
House Bretonia- House Bretonia was the first House to be attacked in the Nomad Wars, but was the last House to suffer defeat by the Nomads. Whether it because of Bretonias "fighting Irish" blood, or the fact the Nomads were spread to thin, or just luck, but Bretonia managed to get by with very little damage, execpt the to the Navy. Right after the War, the Revolutionary Union, seized opportunity and captured the Dublin system. Despite this, Bretonia has stepped up as one of the more dominant Houses.
House Kusari- Kusari suffered much during the war, its Navy destroyed, its worlds bombarded, and its people ravaged. Now some 70 years later, they are still rebuilding and recovering. Rheinland is paying for all the damages it incured, so most Kusari money goes into it economy. Unlike the other Houses, the Revolutionary Union didn't capture any systems that in Kusari's poession. Instead they chose two systems that belonged the former Blood Dragons. Kusari is one of the more peaceful Houses, as its always been.
Outcasts- The Outcasts remained largely unaffected by the Nomad Wars. They lost few shipments of cardimine and lost fewer pilots to the nomads. However as soon as the War was over, they began a bloody campaign of the crimanal underworld. They began their conquest with Tau-37, the Zoners and IMG, falling easily. After Tau-37, Tau-29 was next. When they reached the system, both BMM and IMG surrendered, taking their employes and ships and leaving their bases. With the first step completed, the Outcasts moved to the second part of their plan. They contacted all of their "allies" who were addicted to Cardimine and gave them an ultimatum, give us all your assets and call yourselves Outcasts, or die from withdrawl. There was no choice. The Golden Chrsythiums, Liberty Rogues, and Lane Hackers all submited and became part of the Outcasts.
Corsairs- The Corsairs suffered much during the Nomad War. Frieghters that contained food never reached Freeport 9 in Omicron Theta, so the Zoners had no food to sell. So out of desperation, the Corsair began a "hunger crusade", attacking and captured any base they could find. The Zoners and Junkers fell to the might of the Corsairs Titan wings. Soon the Corsairs, without realizing it, had conquered the Omegas, the Junkers, the Zoners, and anyone else who had no food to spare. Now with this newfound power, they have expanded themselves into territories not thought possible. Including Liberty.
Revolutionary Union-(other pirate factions headed by the Blood Dragons and Red Hessians) Seeing that their fight was making no progress, and that other groups were fighting for the same thing, The Blood Dragons called a summit at Kyoto in the Chugoku system. Leaders from the Unioneers, Hessians, Mollies, Xenos, and other groups met in secret and made a pact that they would unite to fight the Tyranny of the houses and overthrow them for peace and justice for their people. They managed to strike at the weakened Houses and took systems like Dresden and Dublin. They even managed to throw the Corsairs out of Omega-11. Soon other groups like the LWB, Famers Coalition, Gaians, and others joined up, being to weak to fight anyone else.
BHG- The Bounty Hunters Guild are an odd assortment of people from every house and walk of life. These freelancers, bounty hunters, and ex-house pilots are melded into what is the finest fighting force in Sirius. The BHG assist the police of each house in fighting criminals. They occasionaly make sorties in Outcast and Corsair territory. The BHG chose not bring arms against the Nomads, for reasons unknown. All that is known is that during the War, a wing of Hammerheads found a jumphole to a whole area of Sirius that was previously unexplored. On the other end of the sector another wing of Barracudas reported similar things. It turned out, that during the final battle, that these jumpholes opened due to the large amount of energy displaced during the final battle. Now the BHG have set up some stations as jump off points for explorers.
Corporate Federation (Most of the former corporations, headed by Ageria)- The Corporate Federation was formed right after the war. Ageria Technologies, the largest corporation at the time, spearheaded the effort to unite all the corporations under one banner. The Federation has been a huge success, and ships goods from house to house, as well as to other factions. They have established bases on the Outer Rim, as well as having bases within the house systems themselves. They are very wealthy, and have dozens of goods that they sell and mine. They have also set up jumpgates to some of the newly discovered systems.
Miner’s Guild- Composed of the former Independent Miner’s Guild and Gas Miner’s Guild, those factions melded into one right after the end of the war. They hold a monopoly over the mining of metals and H-fuel. They sell to corporations and houses alike. They have set up many stations in teh border worlds, and use those to mine many resources. While the Revolutionary Union and Corsairs dislike their presence in the Border Worlds, they have not yet made an hostile moves, so the miners remain there.
