Just as I am finally rebuilding again (for the 3rd time)! Still, this has probably been the longest CYOF in recent history (can't speak for the very first ones).

The earliest ones didn't even have a turn structure, Just so long as everyone enjoyed themselves with it then it was a good experiment, once we're done I'll work on collating everyones balnce ideas and generally working to improve the rules with Kobi.

So long as the Large Cookie Base is included in the new rules, I shall be happy

Awards time? For the much-debated Omega Cup, I have to nominate Abdiel, after being kicked out of the Coalition and nearly wiped out twice... though generous friends helped Runner-up being Kane, losing everything but a few ships - I'd put that as a whisker ahead of Omega in the stakes. Jacob had the fewest losses, and apart from his annihilation of Valii infrastructure, wasn't in a single real battle - which, rather funnily, I think makes him the most peaceful player. Militarily and economically, I was more or less in the lead for the whole game... certainly had the most powerful ships. Most interesting roleplay... I nominate Bubble, with Abdiel close behind. I had my doubts about the Domain to begin with, but it shaped up into a really intrigueing faction, and I'm sorry that the relentless aggression of the Imperium spoiled any further development of the virus thread. Abdiel... full kudos for really bringing the rivalry and plotting of the Houses, and particularly the somewhat foolhardy Savaaik, to life. Seeing a new post in the RP threads from the Valiaas was always something I looked forward to. Worst backstab... Jacob. GB's surprise attack on Kane nearly wins, but that was a straight-up fight (of sorts). Getting your entire infrastructure wiped out by an ally... that's brutal xP Strongest alliance... me and Kane. You have to seriously trust someone to just fork over 32k's worth of research stations without even being asked.

I didn't really think of GB's attack on Arrakis as a backstab - the Hive has wiped out the Union before, and now Domain gives them stations right next to the Hive territory? I would have done the same if it was Deathspire. (I had an attack on your station in Talos planned, but it didn't go so well...) RP-like, I really enjoyed this - plotting for two factions, one blaming the other, internal conflicts and so. I also think that my constant RPing of the split loyalties trait has stopped the admins from inflicting it upon me in battles. One thing I slightly regret is not involving the New Eden Corporation more; I had planned a much bigger role for them originally. There are also some bits about the Patriarch aliens I haven't posted - maybe if anyone had listened to Immara at the conference... Altogether, this was a pretty fine game; not the best I've played (I have always enjoyed old-style CYOF more), but I was always looking forward to every next turn. I only wish it had gone for a few more days, my economy was finally shaping up to fight back against the Deathspire. We also had a certain... plan... with Gunblader, but he somehow forgot to put some ships in one of his system and the Imperium arrived to his production base before I could get a fleet together to help him.

Well, since you managed to play out the split loyalties trait so well, I didn't have to start a planetary uprising on your worlds . I already have two surprises lined up for the next CYOE, one being the race I planned to reveal in this game, the other one being a more....subtle case.

I meant the original Domain/Hive offensive, not the retaliation against the Imperium and Remnant.

My impression of CYOE 1 in a single page: (Of course, take everything here with a bit of humor! :-P )
Game starts up, building stuff, building stuff... boring... * Deathspire attacks Neo-Terran Republic * Republic: omg help! Valiaas: okay hold on... Valiaas: hey Talos, you got that fleet over there, wanna join me? Talos: Okay * Deathspire runs * Valiaas: Next turn I'll get you Deathspire! * Republic attacks, node EXPLODINATES * Valiaas: wtf? now I can't get to them!
Meanwhile, on the Eastern front. * Valiaas explores SYS-17, dies. * * Republic explores SYS-17, dies. * * Domain attacks Union * * Talos explores SYS-17, dies. * * Domain explores SYS-17, dies. * * Hive explores SYS-17, dies. * * Domain continues to attack Union * * Union runs to the Hive * Hive: die! * Union runs away * Union: Deathspire can we stay with you? Deathspire: sure
* Valiaas finally get to Deathspire and attack * Valiaas: hey who are those guys and why are they shooting me!? Union: sup? :-) * Valiaas dies * Domain: hey Valiaas, can we go through your space to attack Union? Valiaas: sure, w/e... tell Deathspire I said hi. And by hi, I mean die. * Deathspire strikes back * Valiaas: omg Talos help me! Talos: nope * Talos kills Valiaas production * Valiaas: omg omg omg! Domain help me! Domain: okay * Valiaas + Domain fight off Talos * Valiaas: Domain come help me finish him Domain: nah...
Peace conference at Omega Ceti. Republic: Hey guys, wanna all be friends? ^_^ Talos: friends Domain: friends Republic: Hey, exploration something, anomaly something, unknown something something! Valiaas: hey dudes, I'm sort of getting killed here, help me? Union: friends Hive: friends Deathspire: friends Valiaas: um okay, friends I guess? * Deathspire attacks Valiaas * Valiaas: omg omg omg!
* Valiaas runs to Domain * Valiaas: Domain, help pls! * Domain disbands * * Valiaas runs to Hive * Valiaas: Hive, help pls! Hive: hm... Valiaas: help me and I help you kill Union! Hive: okay * Hive attacks Union * * Deathspire attacks Valiaas * Republic: Hey Deathspire, stop that or... something...? Deathspire: w/e... * Deathspire attacks Hive * Valiaas: Hive hold on, I'm coming to help you * Hive self-destructs * Valiaas: Good, now I have enough stuff to fight again, let's wait for Deathspire to make a turn and strike them where they have the least crap * Deathspire groups up * Valiaas: omg, 3 jumps away from me! T_T
Game over, GG!
[edit]: While writing this up, I realized that the Domain/Union battle at the beginning was the only major battle I was not at least tangentially involved in! Yay!

I think now is a good time to point out that while the Domain initiated the attack at Mona Lisa, we only destroyed the fleet - the Hive attacked the stations, which then self destructed if I recall correctly...

I could get into the reasoning behind that, but yeah. Technically it was Domain/Union/Hive, but semantics. XP
