Turn 5 Battle results
The Battle begins with the Vali CL-1's scrambling to block off the SYS-7 Node as a line of retreat.
The Children do indeed initially flee, but not in the expected direction, instead heading deeper into the system, making best speed for the asteroid belt.
The Vali interceptors and CL-2's manage to catch up though and move to engage the Childrens forces. What follows is a brutal battle, in which conentrated fire from the Children CL-1 and Interceptor squadrens working to heard Vali interceptors towards it takes a heavy toll, in which 7 squads of Vali inerceptors are lost, along with both Children Interceptor Squads. The CL-2's however are able to take advantage of the distraction and with conerntrated fire obliterate the CL-1 and aid in the total desctructin of the Children interceptors.

The invaders launch swarms of their strike craft backed up by CL1s and 2s. The remainder of the Capital ships stay at max distance trying to pick off whatever gets within range.
The defending fleet stays within range of friendly guns, while effectively staying out of range of the Imperium weapons. They employ a fighting retreat, to keep the larger ships at range.
As the smaller Imperium ships get within range, the Neo-Terrans open up with as much as possible destroying a large number of Imperium strike craft in the opening barrage. Despite taking heavy losses in the opening salvo, the Imperium's ships continue advancing. Due to the Neo-Terrans extreme range capabilities the Imperium's ships take a lot of casualties despite original plans, but they eventually reach the Neo-Terran ships and begin picking off what they can.
Fighters overwhelm the point-defense weapons used by the defenders, and squadron after squadron fall victim to the superior nature of the Imperium strike craft. However, the Heavy capitals of the Imperium are unable to get within range to be of any use in the massive furball. Eventually, the Imperium looses their strike craft, and the small capitals are left drifting. The Neo-Terrans are not without their losses however, their strength noticeably reduced by the swarm sent out.
The Neo-Terran fleet is taking in a collective breath of relief when they see the remaining Imperium ships are nowhere to be found.
Unfortunately. the remainder of the Imperium Fleet is on the opposite of the planet, bombarding the planet, and destroying whatever stations get within range. They use a slingshot maneuver to speed themselves up to combat the Neo-Terrans superior range. As they close in, the ships of both fleets open fire.
The Deathspire Incarnate, after inflicting a superior amount of damage is the subject of the remaining Neo-Terran fleet weaponry. Its resulting explosion begins a chain-reaction that is somewhat larger than expected. The explosion engulfs the entire battle, the explosion clears and few ships remain.

The remaining Imperium Fleet returns to the planet and proceeds to open fire on the remaining bases. Obliterating most of the remaining facilities, save for two small ones located out of range of the Imperium Weapons. The remaining four ships open fire on the planet itself. Slowly destroying whats left of the planet.
